Yesterday was Remembrance Sunday.

We have two days of Remembrance, the Sunday one for the more religious side of it (when most of the wreathes and things are laid as well). We have the two minutes silence at 11 then as well (I do it on 11th as well but not everyone does).

Anyway yesterday I was working as well. I defiantly had my poppy in my badge (I was told that one of the senior mangers didn't want anyone behind the counters wearing poppies) I am came down from my break in time for the announcement to the silence.

I stood at ease and started thinking about all my old friends from Hampshire that grew up without mothers and fathers because they were lost in action. Then I noticed some people who didn't stop.

Talking.

Working.

Laughing.

They were wearing poppies and walking right the people who were standing still. Not going to lie I went into the fridge and cried.

Later a co-worker of mine, Laura (who works in the fridges), came over and said that she also saw the guy who kept working. She also said that the PA system in one department had failed so the butchery kept working until she came and told them. To which they rather blushingly stopped and became silence. Then Laura saw Ryan. She mouthed silently that it was the silence he replied out loud 'why should i care?'. he did get pulled up to the shop managers office and got a 'good few words' but 'it's not a criminal offence to ignore it.'

Pretty much as tradition I watched the rerun of the London Cenotaph photoage and as usual bawled my eyes out to the point Dad switched the channel over after the wreath laying had been done.

Traditions are good.
